613 new companies were registered in August 2016 – SECP

The data compiled by Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) shows that
613 new companies were registered in Pakistan in August 2016. This shows a 51% increase in business registration compared to August 2015. Following are a few numbers that may help us understand this growth (released by the official press statement) :

1) 90 percent companies were registered as Private Limited Companies

2) 6 percent were registered as Single Member Companies

3) 4 percent of companies were registered as Public Unlisted Non Profit Associations,
Trade Organizations and Foreign Companies

4) The SECP data also shows 7 foreign companies were registered by the
Company Registration Office (CRO) in Islamabad and Lahore

5) 42 companies received Foreign investment.These include investors from; Afghanistan,Turkey, UK, US, China, Germany, Iran, Japan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan,The Netherlands, Australia, Singapore, Thailand

The political and socio economic environment of Pakistan highlights news that may shake confidence of investors and existing businesses. We feel its essential to share these numbers because they are important for the Investos, Upcoming startups and existing businesses. The breakdown of sectors that received investment will be shared in the future posts. Its important to also highlight the trends in the businesses that registered. According to SECP and APP, the highest number of businesses registration was observed by the Trading Companies followed by Information Technology and Construction.
