PlanX, the nation’s largest technology Accelerator – a project of Punjab IT Board (PITB) held the second Facebook for Developers Meetup in collaboration with Facebook at Arfa Software Technology Park, Lahore.
The F8 Meetup gives young technology developers an insight into building new platforms, upgrading existing products, and highlights appropriate measures to monetize online content with Facebook. The event revolved around the effective usage of different Facebook platforms that can help developers to grow further by making productive use of Facebook platforms.
The F8 meetup comprised of two events. The main event focused entirely on professional developers that use Facebook platforms to aid their respective businesses. The event had 500 registrations and was attended by over 200 attendees in Lahore.
The audience watched the exclusive F8 video regarding the latest Facebook Platform products. The new features in the conference included the Virtual Reality video calling feature in Facebook Messenger and a camera with the first augmented reality platform by Facebook. These and many other features are designed to help developers build and grow successful business.
The second simultaneous event of the day was ‘Nurturing the Next Generation of Developers’ workshop where 27 students aged 13 – 15 from Newlands, Beaconhouse took part in a beginners workshop on User Interface Design.
The training was curated by Makeistan and A For Youth and it was moderated to give students the freedom to think, explore and invent things using their own creativity.
The students came up with ideas for their applications from gaming and matrimonial apps, to a patient and doctor portal and even an app to help individuals with disabilities communicate using their mobile phones.
The Chairman of PITB and the Vice Chancellor of ITU Dr. Umar Saif thanked Facebook for coming to Lahore for a second consecutive year and conducting another jam-packed event. Dr. Saif further stressed that the tech entrepreneurs and developers should continue their good work as this is just a stepping stone towards making Pakistan the next technological hub of the region.
The event ended with closing remarks by Community Leads of Facebook Developers Circles, Lahore – Usama Tauqeer and Danish Rizwan. Usama stressed the importance of the Developers network and how you can use it to collaborate with local developers to get access to exclusive trainings, and learn about the latest developer technologies from Facebook.
