The startup works on the agenda of simplicity, as the products provided as the essentials used in a household. This leaves the consumer with only two simple choices to make: what do they want and how much do they want. Such a strategy helps in lowering the stress for consumers since they don’t need to make any tough choices. There is a wide variety of items that are available on such low range ranging from knives to some baking tools.
There is a lot of debate on why the value of $3 was chosen. The Founders of Brandless saw this as a middle point between quantity and value. However, Brandless is in the process of creating some more fixed price ranges but with the same values. The products offered by Brandless are exclusive and often from partner companies. These products are free of Brand Tax due to which the cost of the product for the customer is low. The customer does not need to pay more just because the item is branded.
The set price for all the products is $3, but the cheaper products are sent in bundles, so they compensate for the price.
The choice for an item is restricted to just one which leaves the customer with no other alternative, ultimately keeping it stress-free. The customers then no longer have the paralyzed effect due to too many choices.
The inspiration for the company’s name came from how the brands are struggling to survive in today’s market. The model of Brandless is opposite from the E Commerce Giants like Jet.com and Amazon. Everything in Brandless is predictable, reliable and the price is fixed.
For regular customers, Brandless offers a subscription offer called B More.
Their membership program lowers the shipping costs from $72 to $48. For a separate order, there is a flat rate of $9.
The founders are working hard so their B More members can benefit more.
