PAC suggests blocking tax defaulters’ NICs

Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly has recommended that the National Identity Cards of tax defaulters be blocked.An article to this effect will likely be included in the new finance bill, as was reported by Dawn.

The committee also recommended that the NICs of those who do not follow up on cases relating to tax frauds also be blocked.

Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Muhammad Irshad was also present at the occasion. He said that PAC can form legislation in the parliament in relation to the pending cases. He also said that the judiciary should be contacted through the attorney general to resolve the pending cases.
