Plan 9 launched a storytelling platform- The CEO Baithak
Plan9 launched, The CEO Baithak, with the vision to engage entrepreneurs and professionals with startups and the entrepreneurial community through storytelling.
“This will result in the startups to learn from the problems these individuals faced and also leverage from the network they provided”.
(PITB Chairman, Dr. Umar Saif)
Celebrating the journey of ‘Successful Entrepreneurs’
Plan9 and Information Technology University collectively brought the Minister of State & Chairman Board of Investment, Mr. Miftah Ismail to an audience consisting of growing entrepreneurs hoping to launch their startups. With a diverse range of entrepreneurial experiences in both public and private sectors; Mr. Miftah’s journey is most valuable and inspiring for people who are looking to make a room for their startups in the industry. While advising the startups Mr. Miftah said,
“You should be able to avail the first mover advantage to be known as the innovator. No matter how good the idea is, if you are not able to market it well, it won’t be a success. It is essential that your idea is original and not a rip off of another’s. You should be able to explain your idea in just 4-5 minutes maximum. You should be an expert at it as that is the maximum attention span an investor/customer has”.
He shared his journey and the approaches that worked to its advantage over the years. The session was quite interactive with him providing his feedback to questions raised in the audience. Plan9 startups like ;Near Peer, Cart99, Mapalytics and, CampusFeed also pitched their ideas to him and we hope the startups can incorporate his advice in their endeavors.
Resultantly, this initiative lead to a series of questions about the future of startup ecosystem.
1) How many such initiatives has Plan9 taken?
Plan 9: We have entrepreneurs coming in from time to time to meet our startups. We also have virtual stories released every month “Entrepreneurs of Pakistan” where successful entrepreneurs share their stories. The purpose of the CEO Baithak is to:
a)Provide an official platform to these meet-ups
b)Launch a campaign that can celebrate the success stories
c)Provide an added opportunity for startups to leverage from the growing network.
2) How often will the CEO Baithak be conducted and how can other startups follow this event?
Plan9: We intend to engage startups through these meetups once a month. Those interested in joining us may directly get intouch or follow the social media happenings at Plan 9.
3)How would this impact the Startups?
Plan9: Every entrepreneurial story is different and as the ecosystem develops there is a lot to learn from the different skill sets of existing entrpreneurs. The examples and stories that these entrepreneurs share can help startups who are serious about developing businesses. Its always a learning experience. We feel its essential that the startups get to hear about the highs and lows of the journey. All of it is an effort to add value to the ecosystem so more entrepreneurs can be celebrated and more startups can learn.
According to Business Insider,
“There’s a dark side to startups, and it haunts 30% of the world’s most brilliant people.”
We believe that such initiaitves are important for the society and the ecosystem in many ways. The glorification of entrepreneurship is essential for a nascent structure and a storytelling platform is a great way to solve problems because it can balance the darkside really well. We feel that more founders and startups should engage in such conversations to :
1)Overcome Depression and Fear
2)Engage effectively with the Future Investors by Overcoming Weaknesses that cant always be openly addressed
3)Achieving Work Life Balance
