Samsung Electronics declared that they will re-introduce a new version of galaxy note 7 this week.
The disappointing response over exploding batteries ruined the image of the brand this year. The recollect of millions of Galaxy Note 7 devices caused a serious damage to the profits and more importantly to the reputation of the company.
The new limited edition phone – Galaxy Note Fan Edition (FE) – will hit the stores in South Korea on July 7, Samsung said, enhancing it would only sell 400,000 units.
The firm said it would decide later whether to release the improved edition elsewhere, which is priced at 699,000 won ($611, Dh2, 244) domestically, far less than the previous version that was priced close to $1,000.
According to sources, three million Galaxy Note 7 handsets were re-submitted to the firm last year. Several campaign groups including Green Peace have expressed their point of views, returning or discarding the phone could not be healthy for the environment.
The embarrassing situation faced by the tech gaint put the company under huge pressure on wider fronts. Samsung release the Galaxy S8 series in order to generate positive reviews for the brand.
Another blow to the company’s reputation came with the news that Lee Jae-Yong, Samsung group’s vice-chairman, is on court trial for bribery over his role in a big corruption scandal that brought down defame former president Park Geun-Hye.
