Justice Faiz Isa has taken the oath as the Chief Justice of Pakistan. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the President’s House in Islamabad. Pakistan’s President, Dr. Arif Alvi, administered the oath to Justice Faiz Isa. Justice Faiz Isa’s wife, Sarina Isa, was also present on this occasion.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including the Prime Minister, members of the cabinet, services chiefs, judges, and lawyers from different fields.Justice Faiz Isa is the 29th Chief Justice of Pakistan. It should be noted that on June 21 of the previous year, President Arif Alvi had approved the appointment of Justice Faiz Isa as the Chief Justice of Pakistan under Article 175-A, Section 3 of the Constitution.

Justice Faiz Isa hails from the troubled province of Balochistan in Pakistan, specifically from the region of Pishin. He was born in Quetta’s provincial capital on October 26, 1959.Justice Faiz Isa comes from a distinguished lineage, being the son of the late Justice Mohammad Isa, who was a prominent figure in the Pakistan Movement and the grandson of Qazi Jalaluddin, who served as the Prime Minister of the State of Kalat, which later became a part of Pakistan.

His father, Justice Mohammad Isa, was a significant personality in Balochistan, and he was nominated as the Provincial President of the All-India Muslim League, making him a prominent political figure in the region.

Justice Mohammad Isa was also notable for being the only member from Balochistan in the Central Working Committee of the All-India Muslim League. Justice Faiz Isa’s mother, Syeda Isa, was an active social worker and held honorary positions in hospitals and charitable organizations, focusing on education, children, and women’s health issues.

Educational Journey of Justice Faiz Isa

Justice Faiz Isa completed his early education in Quetta and later attended Karachi Grammar School for his O-Levels and A-Levels. For higher education in the field of law, he pursued a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree in London, England. He earned his LL.B. with Honors, and during his time in London, he also attended the Inns of Court School of Law.

Justice Faiz Isa’s career in law spans over 45 years, including nearly 27 years as a practicing lawyer. On January 30, 1985, he was appointed as an Advocate of the Balochistan High Court, and on March 21, 1998, he began his tenure as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Judicial Career of Justice Faiz Isa

Justice Faiz Isa was appointed Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court on August 5, 2009. Subsequently, on September 5, 2014, he assumed the position of a Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Contributions and Advocacy of Justice Faiz Isa

For Pakistan’s leading English-language newspapers, Justice Isa has written extensively on constitutional law, legal matters, Islamic jurisprudence, and environmental issues. He co-authored a report with the Plateau called “Balochistan: Case and Demand.”

One of his noteworthy publications, “Media Laws and Regulations in Pakistan,” was written in collaboration with the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre.

Justice Faiz Isa’s judicial and intellectual contributions have made him a respected figure in the legal community and a prominent advocate for various legal and social causes in Pakistan.
